SOURCE: smoke from tailpipe when handbrake is inspected
The small oil leak from exterior of engine would not cause the smoke from tailpipe that your describing, even though I would take the time to clean that area well & pinpoint where it's coming from and repair it. Having recently experienced same symptom on my 98 intrepid 2.7, I must ask this, do you make a lot of short trips with the vehicle? My wife drives ours & we recently had to install a new muffler, and when it was removed it weighed a ton from moisture build up inside from too many short runs. Mechanic said it was full of water (not coolant) . Although I had explained to her that making 5 trips to the store, when 1 would have done it, isn't good for the car, she still has to make numerous short runs per day due to work, and this is whats causing the excessive moisture to build up in the exhaust system. If it isn't oil & isn't coolant, then I suspect it's simply moisture build up from too many short trips. Is this possible, do you make a lot of short trips?
