Our 1997 olds cutlass supreme has brake light issues. It has been isolated to the indicator lever that is loose and sloppy. It has affected the brake lights so that if the lever relaxes away from the driver the brake lights do not work. And if the lever is pulled toward the driver the brake lights work fine. Please help. Lower brake lights only work when I manipulate turn signal. Any idea how to fix this problem?

Sounds like you need a new turn signal switch. The lower brake lights are wired through the turn switch. When you fiddle with the turn lever with brake pedal pressed, you are making old worn contacts touch again. A new or even used turn switch should make it work right again.

1997 olds cutless brake lights will not work. bulbs, fuse and switch are good

Its a faulty turn signal switch.Try this, push down and hold brake pedal while pushing on the hazard switch and if the brake lights come on then replace the signal switch.

I need to know from master cylinder which brake line goes to which wheel on a 97 olds. Cutlass supreme.

The best way to tell is get someone to push break slowly and see which one brake fluid comes out of first. That will be the front brakes

Have a 96 Olds Cutlass Supreme, brake lights will not work. We've replaced bulbs, fuses and brake light switch and still nothing. Help!

Try having someone push on brake pedal at the same time thay move the turn signal lever up and down slightly to see if your brake lights work this would tell me that you have a faulty turn signal switch because GM runs the brake lights thru the turn signal switch so they work if you are driving with your 4way flashers on.

Try having someone watch ur lights as you tilt the steering wheel in different positions and pressing on the brake in each tilt position. Sounds strange but the brake light go through teh wiring in the steering column. I drive with my wheel tilted higher than normal to keep BOTH brake lights working.

I have a 1997 olds cutlass supreme and have no brk lites

sounds like a bad or loose ground wire, it would be located in the trunk near the tail light assembly, the other switch is for the cruise contro, it's what cuts the cruise when you hit the brakes.

Abs light is on

youre car needs to have an abs diagnostic work up done on it to get a trouble code and to go futher with a repair. on a cutlass the brakes will feel fine with the abs light on but they will not divert brake pressure in the event of a panic stop thus causing a wheel to skid.
good luck. chris
