I bought a 97 ford taurus 3.0l single overhead cam. Test drove it an it was fine. Picked it up the next day which was raining an the engine through a misfire for cylinder 2, the problem was the wires were fallin apart, replaced the wires. Now when i drive it for about 30 mins or so an go to park it sets off cylinder 1 2 an 3 misfire, wires are good triple checked em plugs are new. It has a lil stumble while idling, put it in gear an it bogs down but doesnt stahl. no hesitation on acceleration. The previous owner put a head gasket on it. head bolts were not changed. If anybody has a idea please throw me a comment.

Assuming it is fuel injected you could have a computer issue.

Testimonial: "Do ou think the head bolts not being changed could have an effect like this cause everything i read on says to discard and not to reuse the old ones"

97 ford exporer timing issue

There are three engines used in a 97 model. The 4.0 single overhead cam V6 engine uses a timing chain in the front and in the rear, one for each cam. The left side is in the front and the right side is in the back. You would have to take the engine out to access the rear chain.
The 4.0 overhead valve engine and the V8 engine only have one chain in the front.

2003 ford taurus serpentine belt route 3.0 ohc

There was a dual overhead cam so I'm guessing that's the engine you are talking about The other 3.0 liter engine wasn't an overhead cam engine. I went on to be on the safe side and provided belt diagrams for both engines because they were different. The first picture and description of which pulley is which is for the DOHC 3.0L engine which is what I'm guessing you have. The second set of pictures/descriptions is for the other 3.0L engine. Hope this helps....

2001 ford taurus 3.0 ohv cam shaft sencor location

The single and double overhead cam engines take different sensors - it should be under a wiring harness close to the throttle cable.
Did you check the computer for trouble codes ?

How do i replace the rear spark plugsn a 2002 ford

On the dual overhead cam 3.0 liter you must remove the upper intake plenum to access the right bank spark plugs and wires.
On the single cam 3.0 liter I have seen guys remove the wiper cowel to gain access, but I just reach around the drivers side behind the throttle body.
