It sounds like something is draining your battery down ( could it be paranormal activity, lol just joking). There may be something that is on drawing down your battery. new battery, new altinator it could be a wireing problem also, I'd recheck all wires from the battery and from the altinator. you can use you volt meter to check voltage drop on the batteries hot wire and then see if voltage is present on the starter side of the starter solenoid. good luck with this.

Possible problems are endless, could be the voltage regulator, could just be some sort of drain in the electrical system ie a dome light that is burnt out but maybe the switch is in the on position. when you jump it it starts up? Does it click when you try and start it? It could be the starter or starter solenoid and not a power issue. hope this helps

If my car need a new altinator wat signs can I c from the car?

Usually, the alternator recharges the battery while you drive. If the battery is dead when you try to start it, it very possibly is an alternator problem. Also, affects the electrical power, ie lights, etc.

How Alternators Work

The problem is if driven everyday the battery stay charged and the truck starts let it set 24 to 48 hrs and the it won't start and will barely light the dome lights.

Hi:
I was going to suggest having the battery tested but it seems you should have covered that with the replacement.
Unless you got a bad one (hope you put a new one in), I'd be looking for something connected that is drawing power.
Has anything been changed recently?
How long has the problem been happening?
Is the vehicle new to you?
My questions are intended to help identify possible sources of the problem.

Cheers.

Lincoln continental battery keeps dying

the altinator should be putting out at least 14 volts,so have it checked out,and if its dead after an hour or so,it sounds like the diode,s gone,so the problem does seem to be the altinator.

The Chrysler voyager has sat on the drive for a couple of weeks and now won't start, totally dead. When we tried to jump start it started sparking and smoking as soon as they were connected to the...

Look inside the voyager and make sure that everything is turned OFF... Since the battery was completely dead there could be something that was left on and this is creating a big load when you try to connect the jumper cables.

Double check your polarity on the jumper cables and try again.. If you have the same problem, I would suggest disconnecting the voyager battery and trying to charge it with the van disconnected. Batteries can do some strange things.. Best of Luck to you..

Its likely your starter is bad and drawing too much power
from your battery to start .
Have advance auto check the amperage draw of the
starter while cranking , its free.

Will start and run fo a short distance and cut off. I had the battery checked and charged and it tested ok. could it be the alternater?

Could be..... the batery is just used for starting, once the engine is running it pulls electric power from the altinator, if the altinator which also charges the batery, is not working power is pulled from the battery, and when the battery goes dead, the car does too. When the Car turns off, do you then need to jump it to start it? if so you could be pretty convinced that the altinator is the issue
