There are many emission sensors in the car that will make the engine light come ON. Not to mention the big list of trouble codes for the engine light. The engine light code will give you a big clue of what's causing the accelerator pedal problem.

Best way to find out what's going on engine light is to have an auto-parts store hook up a engine code reader and tell you what the code means and the problem. Most auto-part store will do this for free.

Most likely then the Throttle Position Sensor itself needs to be replaced. The computer in the car can't how hard you are pressing on the gas pedal. So it acts crazy getting mix signals. Best to replace it and that should solve the problem.

When I'm driving and I break hard the engine warning light comes on but once i press the accelerator it goes off again. What might this problem be?

You need to check codes. if the light comes on it stores a code. It could be anyhting causing this. wiring, oil, loose plug, gas level, anything.

I have a Mitsubishi colt 2006, today when I was reversing from a car park the wheel was (is) very heavy and hard to turn I also notice the ESP light is on. I thought it might be the power steering fluid...

The power steering pump is usually a black box with a round bottom. The fill cap on top of the pump is about the same size as the oil fill cap, but it has a dipstick mounted on the inside. It is driven by a belt, so it will be on the passenger side of the engine. It is often mounted lower on the engine.

I'd like to give you the page reference in the owner's manual, but the Mitsubishi website only provides manuals to owners (you sign up on the website to get access).

If the power steering pump is driven by a separate belt, check the belt tension.

2004 Mitsubishi Colt 1.1 Engine management light & code P0122

My girlfriends car has just started with the same problem, a limp home from the garage, a sleep over night and als well next day, for a while... I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. After exhausting all other options I may attempt this replacement and will advise the results.
