these codes are irritating, on some cars they are on the radio you have to pull it out, most tho call a dealer ship and give them the vin number of the car, they may require proof of ownership or other info from the car. there is a simple device that plugs in the power outlet(cigraret lighter) and uses a 9 volt battery to hold memory while battery is disconnected
