I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima. I mistakenly put the alarm syste on the Valet setting. I lost the book that would show me how to put the alarm system back to its regular settings. How could I do this?

To reset the alarm on your Nissan Titan with a Python 7701V alarm system, try the following steps:
Locate the alarm's control module, which is usually located under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. Locate the valet/override switch. Use the valet/override switch to turn off the alarm, which will reset the system. If the above steps do not work, refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions on how to reset the alarm on your particular make and model of vehicle. Note: Some systems may require a code to be entered to reset the alarm, which is usually provided in the owner's manual or can be obtained by contacting the Nissan dealership.
You can tryhttps://big-manuals.com/products/2000-nissan-maxima-workshop-service-manual ... stuff likewiring, schematic, electrical diagrams, torq settings, parts info, error/fault codes, full assembly/dissembly, service instructions and a lot moreetc are basic contents of these online books they here on this website
You can do a hard reset by disconnecting the main battery. You can also call a tow truck to tip the car up to 45 degrees which will also automatically turn off the alarm. That said, if you do not have the remote entry dongle you'll want to replace it.
my book shows all Nissan engines as obd 2 compliant. Have some with a code reader who knows which pins to connect toread it . Next thing is to talk to a Nissan service centre as earlier models may have had a series of light flashes to read the codes.
I have read the owners manual to my 2002 altima and the only reference to a Valet setting is it came with a key called the "valet key" (go figure) which would only run the car and not the trunk or glove box. There is a switch inside the glove box , but I haven't found the use in the book yet.
now you know what sets off the nissan alarm.lock the car, with the key, hold key over for 30secs then unlock with remote.should reset system....you unlocked the car manually so you need to lock the car manually....
Look for alarm Brain box and look for wires coming out black and red going to valet switch. to turn valet onturn ignition in ON position and press-switch or flip depending on the type of switch. If it a basic alarm just disconnect the main wiring harness to alarm box- unplug and the car should start. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
