I need the correct timing marks for a 96 miata 1.8

The E mark on the left camshaft pulley should line up with the E mark on the camshaft cover. The I mark on the right camshaft pulley should line up with the I mark on the head. There is also a notch on the top of the bottom pulley that needs to line up with the cast pointer above this pulley. I like to mark stuff when I am taking it apart with white paint, it is easy to see when putting stuff back together. The www.miata.net/garage has some help on this.

Timing marks

Look at the front of the engine, there is a major pulley looking thing at the bottom, that is the vibration damper. When you look off to the side you will see a template that has marks on it. Also on the damper you will find a line. You might need to clean the line and use a hilighter on it.

Need timing blet diagram 1992 ford ranger 2.3

Hi, the crankshaft marks are on the belt pulley and timing cover, so you have to mate it up to see them. The cam sprocket mark goes on the bottom, and aligns with another mark on the timing cover. There is a plug you pull out and hole to look thru to align the cam sprocket/shaft.

Rotate the engine so that No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke. Check that the timing marks are aligned on the camshaft and crankshaft pulleys. An access plug is provided in the cam belt cover so that the camshaft timing can be checked without removal of the cover or any other parts. Set the crankshaft to TDC by aligning the timing mark on the crank pulley with the TDC mark on the belt cover. Look through the access hole in the belt cover to make sure that the timing mark on the cam drive sprocket is lined up with the pointer on the inner belt cover.

How do you line up the timing gear in a 98 ford escort?

Hi.
Rotate the engine until the Timing mark on the Crankshaft pulley, is in line with the Timing mark on the Bottom casing.
Rotate the camshaft pulley until that Timing mark is in line with the Mark on the Camshaft bearing casting.
Install the timing Belt from the RH side, with no looseness in the Straight line tension, depress the Tensioner pulley, and feed the belt around the Water pump drive, and then the tensioner.
As you release the tension on the Tensioner pulley, ENSURE that neither of the Timing Pulleys MOVE.
Rotate the engine 2 times and check that the Timing marks at Top Dead Center are still ALIGNED.
If all is in good order, reinstall the Motor Mount and Belt covers and ancillaries.
Regards, DT
