Problem for Audi 2003 A4 Cabriolet
Audi - Shudder when accelerating
I have a 2003 A4 1.8T Convertible with 53K miles. I'm noticing a shudder when I accelerate from a stop . . . any thoughts on the cause? It has been going on for awhile but in the last few days it is more often and more pronounced.

- Thanks - I understand the hesitancy to diagnose. I recently had an oil leak that they "think" was one of the hoses blocked but not positive. They said it may be the Turbo . . . I have it back now to drive and see if fixed but was afraid the "shudder" may be related to the turbo. Could it be - or is that completely different? (sorry to be so clueless)Best Solution

If the engine misses when accelerating, that can cause a shudder. Bad motor mounts can also cause this problem.

to be honest i would need to drive it to know for sure but it could be anything from the clutch ,loose flywheel bolts to a drive shaft or evan a deformed tyre,Sorry i couldnt give you an instant fix and i sound like a solicitior because they always beat around the bush

- yes it could be a turbo vibration as well ,evan an exhaust clamp could cause something,This is one of them things where you would need a old dinasaur mechanic to have a drive.Really would like to point my finger at it for you but without having a quick drive around the block ?? i can only throw probale causes into the equationYes
