Service engine soon light comes on my 2002 Buick Century that only has 54000 miles. What could this mean? Nothing seems wrong with the car. It is oiled regularly.

The service engine light means that the computer has detected that there is something wrong. it doesn't mean that it is anything serious. it could be something very simple. if you want to find out what it is exactly and avoid repair shop costs, take it to auto zone or another parts store. most of them have scanners that they will hook up and tell you why the light is on without charge.

Why does my service engine soon light come on when the car is working properly but not when it doesn't?

The light is in test mode when you start, so you can check the bulb is working. The light has nothing to do with whether you stall it only estimates whether you need a service based on time, number of starts (and probably some other parameters - perhaps someone else knows what they are).

Service engine soon light

The easiest thing to do to have that checked is go to autozone, checker or someplace like that. They test for free and can tell you what the light means. Then we can figure out what is wrong.

I just changed the oil in my 1994 buick century and the service engine soon light come on after, how do i reset this?

SES lights aren't maintenance lights, it means you have a trouble code set in the computer. Only way to "reset" it is to have it checked and repaired.

Service engine light comes on at 54000 miles

Replace the fuel filter. The new gasolines with ethanol tend to lloosen any crud in the gas tank, which then plugs the filter. When the engine stalls, the crud falls away, and it will run again until it plugs up again.
