The transmission in my 2000 Buick LeSabre shifts fine, but it's developed a distinct "whine" as I accelerate from a stop.

- 88smokey, thanks for the response. I checked the fluid, and it is clean and full. I think it may be the so-called modulator valve, but I don't know where that is located or how to replace it. Do you think I'm best advised trusting in a transmission shop, or could it be fixed by changing the fluid and filter?
Again thanks for the initial response.

- As I mentioned, I checked the level properly, and I'm sure it's the transmission. In park, revving the engine does not produce a whine, and while moving, I put the transmission in neutral to coast, and the whine stops. I put it back in gear and the whine begins again. It only does it in gear and especially when I accelerate. I'll try to find a reputable transmission shop. Thank you very much.
check your fluid level. If it is low it can start to whine

- did you check it with the car warm, in park, and running? If not then your reading will be inaccurate. are you sure the whine is your transmission? Does it get louder and quieter as your RPM's fluctuate? If it is constant ten it is not the transmission. I would recommend taking it to a transmisison shop. there are special tools involved when working on transmissions.

- Have them check the pressure control solenoid. It causes a whine. A flush and fill and new filter and possibly a new solenoid will solve the problem.
good luck.

Thanks for the additional advice. I did check the fluid level in the proper fashion when the transmission was warmed up and cycled through the gears.

My 2000 Buick Lesabre Custom will not blow any heat. The climate control(manual) won't change between hold and cold. If I put it all the way on hot, the car will not blow any hot air. If i put it on cold, it won't differ any. I've put in a new thermostat!!
