2006 dodge ram 2500 diesel. I was recently on a road trip and i noticed that all the sudden my oil pressure gauge was reading half as much as usual. i always pay attention to my gauges so it just happened right then. I took it to power dodge for a tech to check it out. the tech said that there was only 3 quarts of oil when drained it. they checked o few things and did an oil change on it and said it was fine. I do not have any oil leaks and it does not smoke any more than normal. 2 weeks later i check the oil and 2 quarts low. still no leaks or unusual smoke. why is the oil just vanishing into thin air and so quickly?

It isn't specified. There is more than one fuse that covers transmission. You would need an auto electrician or a transmission expert to connect a pro grade scan tool computer and diagnose if the switch or solenoid is faulty. A scan tool at this level is bi-directional and can command solenoids to operate and confirm that they do.

Low RPM's = Low oil pressure. A pump only runs as fast ast a motor turns it.

Any number of things but do not drive the truck. Possible sheared oil pump drive. Possible electrical fault in oil pressure sense and warning system. If it is an emergency you can loosen the oil filter a little to allow it to leak, start the truck briefly and see if oil is pushed out under pressure. This tells you if the oil pump is OK. Personally I would have the truck towed to a garage or dealer.

The re-fill kit for the r-134 will only fit on one of the sides. You want to fill the low pressure side, but be sure you have a gauge not to overfill. he high pressure will be the larger side. But the gauge will only fit on one of the inlets for safety precautions.

you need to put an oil pressure gauge on it and see what happens.what you will find is that the sender unit is no good.

I would try to change it to the original factory setup which is the way it was before the dealer messed with it .See if that helps .
They did something wrong when they installed it .

possibly the oil sending unit, it may be bad or the wire may have a short in it

I don't have a owners maual either but I beleive its 10 liters.Use 15w40 ams oil with ams oil filter.7500-10000 miles for filter changes and 20000 miles between oil changes

Dont be lazy no easy soloution ,head off and have a look

short to ground from the signal wire. resistance to ground makes the needle move. if grounded or shorted to high(+) could cause irregular reading. if your gauge is mechanical you could have an oil filter thats bypassing into the oil cooler and not completely being filtered. good luck...
