You can also buy the entire assembly which includes the sending unit that reports back to the fuel gauge. auto parts and bmw sell that thing for three times the price. The same pump is used in many many of different series BMW's. After 60,000 miles they are changed out as part of routine preventative maintenance, because a bad pump will leave that hot babe driving it stranded at the mercy of the local bugger pullers.
