Do a 2004 Envoy SLT 4.2L have a Ignition Module?

Crankshaft position sensor, cam sensor . your vehicle should have coil on plug , a coil at each spark plug !
Ignition Coils
Each ignition coil has an ignition 1 feed and a ground. The PCM supplies an ignition control (IC) circuit. Each ignition coil contains a solid state driver module as its primary element. The powertrain control module (PCM) signals the coil driver to initiate a firing event by applying a signal to the IC circuit at the appropriate time. When the signal is removed, the coil fires the spark plug. The spark plugs are tipped with platinum for long wear and higher efficiency.
During normal operation the powertrain control module (PCM) controls all ignition functions. If either the crankshaft position (CKP) or camshaft position (CMP) sensor signal is lost, the engine will continue to run because the PCM will default to a limp home mode using the remaining sensor input. As mentioned above, each coil is internally protected against damage from excessive voltage. If one or more coils were to fail in this manner, a misfiring condition would result. Diagnostic trouble codes are available to accurately diagnose the ignition system with a scan tool.
If a crank sensor is replaced a Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn must be done and a scan tool is need to do this.

98 ford f150 has 4.6 motor cranks but no power to coils . Could this be a crank censor.

with any scan tool attached, you crank for 5seconds
and the tool will tell you what is or is not bad.
eg: if no DTC for Crank or cam sensors, its NOT THEM.
any OBD2 scan tool sold in USA works on this car. 1998,
any. the trick is.
1: keyon
2: crank for 5 full SECONDS.
3: release key , not off, wait for 1min.
4: see the DTC codes?????????
the PCM makes spark if the PCM is happy with the crank sensor
then it then uses what is called and igitor to fire the coils

better is to read the FSM on this car. (BOOK from dealer)

crank +cam >>>> PCM >>> ignitor the coil, the spark plus.
this is the path, note how the PCM is in the middle.
if it sees either sensor mess up 1 out of 10 times, it pukes, DTCS
like a swiss watch.

Jeep grand cherokee crankshaft position sensor replaced but still given a weak spark

the coil. ? older post.
the PCM reports even one drop out of 10 , on the CKP or CMP sensors. 99.9% of these changed are good.
why not tell me what you have,? full symptoms and evidence.
got P030x misfiring? are you even using a scan tool,? or working blind.
may be its the coil.?
can can you feel the misfiring.c
can you see the engine shake? all of this is evidence.
do not miss out on that.
does the scan too shop pending misfire codes?
stored codes, or codes while driving, learn to use the scan tool.
do a 60k mile tune up yet?
your engine is not COP coils like the V8
its COIL rail that is a COIL pack with 3 coils inside
that runs 2 sparks each called WASTED park.
so did you try new sparkplugs(dah)first then new coil pack wires HV
next , then a new coil pack last.
start with the cheap spark plug and wires, (called a tuneup)
then pop for coil pack./
misfire can be clogged or leaking injectors too, and that ill skip
with out you using the scan tool fully.

Chrysler 300M p1391 code misfires when hot.

From research Chrysler is having a lot of this same problem. If it were another vehicle I would say it's either ignition module or pickup coils going bad. Some vehicles have had problems with wires to pickup coils (Hall effect coils) getting hot and shorting due bad wire insulation. One cause is oil or dirt getting on pickup coils, cam position sensor, also if cam is worn and moving any that will affect the gap between sensor and cam. You didn't say how many miles were on the car.
