Problem for Chevrolet 2001 Blazer

I did a fuel pressure test on my 2001 blazer. This is a 4.3 v6 csefi system. when I turn the ignition on ( engine not running) the pressure comes up for about 2 secounds 64 psig then once the pump stops running the pressure drop right off. The pressure with engine running is about 55psig. Should the pressure drop off that fast or does this mean somethings wrong?

I just went through a major costing repair. My fuel pump blew and we discovered the pressure test # are wrong. Mine, like yours was showing it in the range but it in fact wasn't. Also the sending unit is on recall.

check that fuel pressure regulator is holding pressure if not replace (pressure should hold for at least 5-10 minutes before dropping considerably)
