- Its both, an automatic that you can switch into stick mode
Depends on the car - something is slipping. If you have an automatic, it's likely a problem with the torque converter. If it's a manual, your clutch is slipping. Neither is cheap or quick.

- That's the tiptronic transmission - it's still an automatic (no clutch pedal or assembly). First step is to change the transmission fluid and filter. Have this done at a shop - on these cars the transmission temperature has to be monitored with diagnostic software while being drained and filled. It has to be at a certain temperature to allow it to fill properly. Have this done, and see if it helps. If not, you may want to look into replacing the transmission.

Hey there, I have a P reg Audi A4 avant sport. The initial problem was that the ignition key did not spring back from cranking the starter motor, I believe this has caused my bigger problem which is that I simply hear a single click when I try to start the engine. It will bump start and the battery isn't dead, I have however bumped it and found a whistling noise emitted until the key was turned back one notch, I'm hoping this was the already turning engine making the starter motor spin rather than cogs grinding, any ideas? I think the starter motor has had it but don't know how to eliminate small electrical faults, any relays or fuses that might have blown and their locations? Any advice very much appreciated
