2001 Toyota Tacoma Engine Miss

I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma that developed an engine miss today and has lost some power. It has 208,000 miles on it. The check engine light came on and I took it to Auto Zone to read the code. They said #6 cylinder has a miss. Where should I start? Spark Plug, Wires, Fuel Injector, etc.?

Start with the plug wires. You may need new plugs but my experiance is that the plug wires are the first to go.

2001 toyota tacoma missing driving down the road not on takeoff

If it's missing, the "Check Engine" light should be on. You need to read the code to figure out what the computer is telling you is wrong. Many repair shops will read the code for free and give you the code. After you get the code, put it into a Google search and you'll be in the ballpark.

1999 toyota tacoma has developed a nasty miss but only when excelerating

There are several problems regarding a misfiring engine. You can try checking all the spark plugs and seeing if they are good . Check the Spark Plug wires for any breaks or loose fit. If possible get a code at Autozone or other autoparts store. they do it for free. Because it could be a simple sensor problem Such as the Crankshaft position sensor, O2 sensor etc.
By eliminating the electrical ignition problems you can start to troubleshoot the fuel. Check all filters (ie: fuel filter, air filter, etc.)

I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker. Lately it's developed a serious miss, almost as if you turn the key off while it's running. Almost immediately it catches back up again. I don't get backfiring. I'm trying...

Maybe its time for new spark plug,,, this is an inexpensive refresh and something the mechanic will do if he starts troubleshooting the engine miss. While you are installing the new spark plugs, give your spark plug wires a CLOSE VISUAL inspection for burns, cracks, or other defects that would cause a misfire..Once you have replaced the spark plugs..checked the wires, ..and if the miss is still there, its time for a qualified professional to look at it.. they will hook it to a diagnostic machine and tell you what happening... good luck..... and no, it hasn't "slipped timing"..

Engine miss on 2001 toyota corolla

Have the vehicle scanned for codes and do the repairs the codes reflect.
If there are no codes found then have a cylinder leakage test performed this way the techn. can determine if there are any vacuum leaks that are causing the miss.
If this turns out to be a-ok then the techn has to do a Injector balance test. might be an injector thats giving you a headache.

97 k1500 5.7 liter vortec misses on cylinders 3 and 5 while idling. about 1500 rpm only cylinder 3 and 4 miss then at 2000 rpm only cylinder 4 and 8 miss. what could cause this?

I have had continuous missing issues on my 1997 Silverado after i had a new engine installed 30,000 miles ago. Today I purchased a new gasket for the EGR Valve and removed it. The mechanic had re-used the old gasket when he replaced the engine and cut corners to save $2.00. I found he had installed the EGR bass-ackwards causing my check engine light to stay on and the engine always to miss. Engine runs GREAT now
