I have a Toyota Lucida,4wd Autogear,of 92 model,Desiel engine. All the forward gears were working well except Reverse. No movement of the car when reverse gear was applied. What might be the reason for this problem?

What a strange statement . I would expect the vehicle to go forward in all gears except park as that is when the transmission is not working and a gear is physically locked by a pawl in the box . I think you meant reverse in which case run the fault codes and look for a reverse solenoid / servo problem or a TCM fault.
The problem concerning low gear locked up sounds like a bad primary shift solenoid (located on the valve body internally) the other issue with the forward gear only engaging with the rpm up to 1800 could be inadequate hydraulic pressure (a transmission front pump issue), most likely there is no problem with the pump if when shifting the selector lever into reverse it engages quickly and normally. This may be a transmission computer issue and I would recommend having the dealership do a diagnostic check on the transmission to eliminate the computer as a culprit. transmission problems are very difficult to figure out and before spending a lot of money get the electrical diagnostic done first.
If the vehcile is V6,then the trans model is the A540E,and if it is the 4 cylinder engine, the trans model is an A140E.Both are 4 speed overdrive transmissions, and sorry to report that on just abot every automatic trans on the road, reverse gear failure is almost always a mechanical problem inside the transmission because there are no shift solenoids involved with reverse as with forward gears. And you did say the forward gears were fine.Good luck.
I have same problem with a 95 4runner 4wd 3VZE engine and A340 H tranny. I had previously had a real bad problem with all gears "neutralizing" where car would rev up but not move forward or rear in any gear. I spent $ 1,500.00 for transmission and transfer case rebuild, and problem not solved. After months of research, I found out there is a "valve body" which is a an electronic plate inside the transmission drain pan right above the transmission filter. These valve bodies have solenoids which act as mini pumps inside transmission. I ordered a kit through a San Antonio, TX independent distributor (# 1 solenoid, # 2 solenoid, and a so called "lock up solenoid". Kit comes with full details how to replace those three sensors. I did job myself one afternoon..no problem. 4runner works like new now except for the reverse which acts as you mention. There is a fourth solenoid in the transfer case (not transmission) whcih was not part of the "kit" I bought. Although I'm not sure it is the cause, after replacing the other solenoids, the fix was dramatic on the forward gears. I'm currently researching if solenoid # 4 may be the cause of the reverse gear still not working fine.
