You need to remove the outer tie-rod end. After the boot is replaced. it would be prudent to get the front end alignment checked.

Steering wheel turn all the way around no control

If your steering wheels turns all the way but your wheels don't:
This would have to be either a broken rack and pinion(steering gear) or the shaft between the rack and pinion and the steering wheel would have to be broken. This would need to be visually inspected to be sure which is the problem.

I would have to guess that your steering wheel is no longer connected to the rack (as opposed to something in the rack breaking). My best guess is that your steering column shaft snapped.

They can be replaced, and the necessary parts are sold, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to replace.

stick your head down under the dash on the driver's side where the brake and gas pedals are, and look up at the steering shaft (can't miss it). Now turn the steering wheel. Does that shaft turn?

Replace front pinion

Are you referring to the rack and pinion steering assembly? If so, repairing or rebuilding this unit requires very specialized tools. Even auto repair shops do not fix these. We simply remove the defective unit and replace it with another good complete unit.
If you are asking how to replace this unit, that also requires special tools to remove the tie rods. You must also be very careful and know what you are doing or you can ruin the clock spring for the driver's side airbag. The shaft for the steering column is "phased" to the shaft on the pinion gear. You must be sure to keep the steering column and the new rack & pinion assembly in phase or you can do more damage to your truck. You will also need to take the truck to a shop for a front end alignment after you are done. If you think that you have the skills to handle this job, I would suggest you watch the videos I've linked. FYI, it will take a skilled mechanic with all the proper tools over 4 hours to do this job.

Is it possible for power steering fluid to get into the engine and mix with the oil? I am loosing fluid and there are no visible leaks, the engine oil and filter was recently changed and now has turne

No, the power steering is entirely a separate and sealed system, wholly external to the engine. The power steering pump pushes the fluid through a high pressure hose into the rack and pinion-the steering gear mounted below and behind the engine-and holds pressure within the rack that enables power assisted steering. At the same end where the power steering fluid hose enters the gear will be a fitting for a return line back to the fluid reservoir. These two hoses are usually routed close together at least part of the way, some may even be held together with brackets. Leaks could develop at the pump, the fluid reservoir, or the two hoses to and from the rack and pinion, or the seals inside the rack and pinion may have failed. You should be able to find the leak-it will only leak to the outside-to check the rack and pinion for leaks, right where your tie rods come out of the gear and go to the wheels for steering, will be a small rubber boot encasing the tie rod and the end of the rack assembly-on both ends is a boot and a tie rod-peel back the rubber boot from the gear ass\'y, it should be dry. If a lot of fluid, the seals in the rack and pinion are gone. It will have to be replaced.
Hopefully you will find a leaking hose or fractured reservoir, but keep looking, air flow may be blowing the leaking fluid back and under the car. Good luck, hope it\'s not the rack and pinion.

Rack and pinion? have play in wheel no sign of leaks new power steering pump installed

Hi Gunny, If your vehicle is fitted with rack and pinion steering also check the rack ends for play. The rack ends are the rods which the tie rod ends screw onto. The other end fits onto the rack of the rack and pinion. To work on those you will need to remove the rubber boots and loosen the locking washer, they can then be loosened with a wrench. If they are worn the play will be evident in the steering. When replacing them also replace the rubber boots. If the boots are worn and road grime and dust enters, you will see leakage from the rack and pinion in the near future. I always thought the Dakota was fitted with a steering box? Regards John

My toyota camry steering went very stiff

Unless the rack and pinion gears are slipping (jumping a cog), then try putting oil on the universal joint in the steering column just above the rack & pinion. Two mechanics wanted to change the rack & pinion for $900 or the "Yoke" (whatever that is) but a generous squirt of oil on the U jont fixed the problem for my 2002 Camry!

There is power steering fluid dripping from the passenger side boot covering the rod that connects to the wheel. Could a simple replacement of the boot be the fix, or is there a problem with the main unit...

No, the boot only keeps dust out of the inner tie rod joint--it is not intended to hold back fluid. The rack will have to be rebuilt with new seals. Sorry. :o(

Powerstearing leaking oil

Have the steering gearbox checked.  If fluid loss was severe.  Wear in steering box causes excessive play in steering controls.  Take on one concern at a time.  They do not seem to be related
