Sounds like the floater in the fuel tank can't move freely anymore. This requires the fuel tank to be taken out - removing the suction pipe with floater. Cleaning might help, but better to mount a newer one (used or new).
No I dont think you can as I cant on my 98 oldsmobile achieva and they are basically the same car. Almost all parts are interchangeable between the two.
To replace the fuel pump
you must remove the fuel tank disconnect hoses connecting the tank,
disconnect the battery and remove all the fuel to facilitate the
assembly you ... Thanks
Yes, your fuel pump is connected to the sending unit in the gas tank. Be careful not to stretch of break the wires connected to the harness on top of the tank. These are usually in a very tight place, and can sometimes be reached easier by supporting the tank and removing the straps, slowly drop the tank to where you can remove the harness, as well as the fuel lines. This job is usually more aggrivating than difficult. If you have never attempted this before, expect to take some time doing this! Hope this helps
Your pump is not compatible with the supercharger pump. The pressure rates are much high for a supercharged engine. Your normally aspirated engine requires less fuel, thus, a smaller capacity pump.
You may want to check under the rear seat to see if there is an access hatch to remove the fuel pump/sending assembly. Then dropping the tank would not be an issue.
I would not suggest putting a used fuel pump into any vehicle. A new one should be available for 50-100 dollars. Also replace the strainer at the base of the fuel pump when you replace the pump.
