My ABS, brake and oil lights keep coming on at the same time, flashing for a few minutes and then going back off. This happens very randomly, sometimes lasting for seconds, sometimes lasting for up to 20 min. It doesn't seem to matter how long the car has been running. Now the tach is also dropping to zero as soon as the other warning lights come on and remains there until the lights go back off. Any ideas?
Thank you "capitolauto" I had exactly the same problem with my 99 passat , and it eventually became permanent instead of intermittent. I consider myself a good mechanic , but I was stumped. Even my buddy who works for VW wasn't sure , he said it was a ground problem somewhere. For those of you with 2.8 L VW's and Audi's If your oil light and abs light come on intermittently , and your tac quits working , apparently the problem is the ABS module , and Modulemaster.com has great instructions for removal (even a video)

A red brake light is on that would indicate that the e-brake is engaged, which it is not, or the brake fluid is low, which it is not. At the exact same time that this happened my headlights won't work, nor will my turn signals and my climate control will not work either. All bulbs and fuses have been checked and are ok. The Check Engine light is also on and had a diagnostic run on that. The code said that the gas cap was not on, however the gas cap is on there very snug. Any advice? This all happened in a 24 hour period on a 1.8T GLS
