1996 Chevy 1500 w/305 motor. Truck cuts out while driving almost as if it is out of gas. I have changed the fuel filter but still does it. Is there 2 fuel filters? What can cause this? Bad Fuel pump? It goes away if I floor it. Comments: This only happens when I am barely pushing down on the Gas peddle. This model has a Throttle body setup Things we have done changed distributer cap, router, fuel filter.   Looking for a detailed answer guiding me towards what to check next.

There is an Idler valve near the intake that can be adjusted. that valve may be worn out and need replacing.

Testimonial: "I need more info then that I still do not see any Idle valve that can be adjusted. I have test The IAC valve and it ohms out correct. "

SOURCE: Need a 1996 1500 chevy 305 EXPERT!!!! ONLY!!!

Take an analog ohmmeter, remove connector from TP sensor, and touch probes on terminals of sensor, try combination of 2 until you see reading increase as gas pedal pushed & decrease as pedal released by someone, while engine off, and key off.. Have them slowly, & gradually push pedal, as you watch meter. Reading should increase slowly & gradually as well. If you see it climbing, then quickly drop off, then jump back up, it's faulty. Try to concentrate more on the position of gas pedal where you experience the engine cutting out. Costs nothing to try it.

Testimonial: "thank you excellent help"

Does a 1996 chevy s10 pickup 4.3 vortec have a saftey cut off that will stop the fuel from getting into the spider injectors

Sorry there is no safety valve or switch. Only Ford products use an inertia switch.
Have you checked for power and ground at the injector connector ?

First guess would be faulty fuel pump. Maybe clogged fuel filter.

Sounds like an idler issue, adjust it first before doing anything else.

I have a 1998 chevy c3500 with the 7.4 liter

you can't change the timing in this engine nor can you adjust the valves. The timing is adjusted throught the computer therefore there is no mechanical way to change this. You might be able to with some kind of programmer or computer program.

Fuel pump relay

If this happens every time you start your truck and it shuts off the same each time, you just might have a dirty fuel filter only allowing so much gas pass through until it clogs once again. I once had a chevy van, when I would drive it, would go a few miles and engine would shut down.   I would wait 10 or 15 minutes, it would start up and allow me to drive a few more miles then shut down again.  I changed the fuel filter, It was fine after that.
