My Envoy has 115,000 miles on it and I just replaced the spark plugs with Platinum Autolites and it has developed a miss as well as a check engine light. I looked everything over to see if I possibly knocked something loose but everything looked good. The cruise control doesnt work anymore either. Any suggestions?

- O.K. I removed all plugs and rechecked the coils and boots which seem to be fine. After switching coils around it cleared out for about ten minutes then started missing again. I disconnected the battery for five minutes to reset the computer ( I dont have a code reader for this vehicle ) and still had the miss. Am I clearing the codes correctly? What is the average longevity for the coil packs? Should I buy AC Delco platinums for it instead of Autolites? Why is this problem intermittent for the most part? Your help is greatly appreciated.

- Thank-you for your assistance with my issue, it has been resolved. The local G.M. dealership had told me to gap the plugs at .060 which conflicted with my parts store's recommended gap of .045 and after some research I discovered that it was neither, it was supposed to be .041. The #5 cylinder was not firing at all. I went ahead and installed AC Delco plugs and ate the price of the Autolites. She is back to running like a champ. Thank-you for the free advice, it seems its harder to find these days.

If you ;have a miss, scan it to see the cylinder that is effected. Then pull the plug. If the plug is ok, switch the coil pac to another cylinder and drive it after you clear the codes. If you have a good scanner you can go into real time information and watch misfire information and see if it switched to that cylinder. If so, replace the coil pack. Have a new plug to put in the other cylinder anyway, just so you don't have to go back later.

Hope this helps.
