To fix enter car ....close door.... turn key to on but don't start .... just so the dash lights come on.... then open the door and reach down with your left hand and push the door switch in 8 times and then try to start the vehicle .... the light might be on in a dimmer mode still flashing ...this is ok it is a diagnostic mode .... repeat the process all over again and it will clear the air bag code .... usually happens to rice burners after the battery is replaced or disconnected.
Repeat until it clears ...works honest!!

You don't want to mess with those airbag senors. The light is on because there is a problem. Visit a rep mechanic.

SOURCE: Air Bag Sensor

Yes You can Replace The Sensor Yourself The Question Is Are You Willing To Tear Your Complete Steering Column Appart!
Also Special Tools Required ( Hex Headed Alan Bolts )
The Sensor Is Located On The Belly Side Of The Steering Column Under The Steering Wheel Beside The Ignition Switch
The Average Cost Of A Mecanic Tools And Labor Is Around $250.00
And Believe Me Its Worth It ! If You Don't Believe me Tear It Appart Yourself
Most Airbag Sensors Are Faulty On PreOwned Vehicles Anyway Because They Where Wrecked Prior And The Dealers Don't Want To Have them Fixed With The Crack Downs On The Lemon Laws In Most States.
Alot Of These So Called Make Shift Car lots Sell Em Every Day with Faulty Sensors !.
Anyway....I Would Suggest Taking It To A Authorized Ford Dealership And Have It Fixed At Least You Have A Bill And A Guarantee it deploys in case of a accident !

SOURCE: the check air bag light stays on , and a service air bag alert at info center

Sounds like the sensor is tripped due to low pressure in the compressor you have to get the unit charged and the light will go off. Or take it to a auto parts store and have them put their diagnostic code reader on their and have them clear the codes this may fix it as well

SOURCE: 2002 lincoln ls...front air bag indicator light

You will have to get the airbag code read to be sure but I have had to replace the clockspring in my steering wheel and also the airbag wiring harness under the passenger seat on my 2002 Lincoln LS, all in less than one year. If you or someone you know can help you remove the seat you can do the wiring harness yourself, it is a simple clip.

Whereis the air bag module located

Modules are usually under the center console. Sensors are located in many different spots. Ones on the radiator core support, under the plastic piece. Ones under the front seats. Ones at the center column, just behind the front seats, and rollover sensors. I haven't found them yet.

How does one correct the problem when the air bag sensor lights up, and where is it located.

Not sure I am following your question.
You would need to have the body computer scanned to get the trouble code before you can fix the problem.
Once the problem is repaired and the code is cleared, the light should stay off.

Air bag sensor

A possible solution. i have a 2002 ranger in which the air bag light would present itself. i discoved that the passenger air bag indicater bulb was out if i had the airbag on or off. its located next to the key switch. i pulled it appart and notice the bulb was bad. replacing it fixed the problem. there is a catch. this bulb is solderd to the circuit board and you have to get it from radioshack. is a simple task if have a solder kit. hope that helps.

Air bag

When you first start the truck the air bag system does a diagnostic. The light comes on because there is a fault in the system. Needs to be scanned, I suspect they will find a problem with the front impact sensor. Either it was damaged, or the wiring to it was damaged when you went into the ditch.
