2005 honda accord diesel, when i accelerate as it hits 2000 - 3000 revs the car starts jerking, as if there is a hesitation. It does this until I ease off it

In one HOWTO we'd like to give you some advice so you know all the possible reasons and answer your question: why is my car jerking?

  8. Car jerking caused by a blocked catalyst Car jerking can be caused by a blocked catalyst, which leads to gases not being ejected as they should be. The result is that, until the car doesn't rev, the car jerks. If your car has a blocked catalyst you will also notice the following symptoms apart from the jerking.

    Symptoms

    • The 'Check engine' light will turn on
    • Your car jerks when accelerating
    • The car's fuel efficiency will have dropped

    Jerking caused by a fault in the spark plug Another cause for jerking can also be a fault in the spark plug or one of its cables. You will know this is the case if your car jerks when you start it in the morning. The symptoms are very similar to a blocked catalyst, but if it's a problem with a spark plug, you'll notice the following too:

Its possible to have a faulty O2 sensor, but the sensor could also be telling the truth - that the fuel mixture is off.
Usually the O2 sensor codes mean the data the sensor is providing to the computer is out of range, but the exhaust really could be very rich or very lean.
A mechanic would use a scanner to "read" the sensor and he would also check the fuel pressure among other things.

It sounds like something is loose...That may be causing your vibrating problems with the engine. You need to life the hood and grab anything that should be bolted down grab it and gently but firmly pull on it. If it moves then you will see it right then and there.
