2004 ford f150 a/c heater control cycles on and off

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Are you talking about the display goes on and off ( fan will start and run, then stop, display goes blank ), or the AC ? Is this the Electronic Automatic Temp Control ( Lariat, King Ranch, FX4-Lux ) or the Electronic Manual Temp Control ( XL, XLT, FX2, etc ) ?

Possible low refrigerant or too much head pressure in a/c system. It's called short cycling.

1997 F150 heater problem

your problem is caused by the air temperature control blend door actuator motor being defective, the little motor moves the door that gives either hot air or cold air or a blend of the 2.

Location of the heater control valve

There are 2 hoses going through the firewall from the engine, these are the coolant hoses to the heater core, one is 3/4" and one 5/8", the control valve should be in the larger line (3/4") which is the inlet, make sure that the valve has vacuum (heater on low), also check and see if both hoses get hot with the heater blower on low, if they do get hot your problem is not the heater control valve but the air temp control blend door actuator.

2004 F150 Heater Vent Selector Problem

The "blend door" or "mode selector door" is stuck. Common problem with Fords. Most auto repair places can fix it. I had mine done at Firestone.
