Peugeot 205 Temp warning light comes on in traffic. Fan runs

Dont they have 2 lights? like the citroenBX, one usually orange that means it is a litle high and red that means stop.Also the 205s were known for the front of the rad getting obscured by road dirt, how old is the rad? I have changed several where the fins had rotted and blocked.Try a car wash hot lance to clean through the back.

Peugeot engine's have an alamenium cylinder head's and are easily damaged by overheating and for this reason the sensor's for coolant temp. are sensitive and any small abnormality in temp. will cause a warning. If the light bothers you then put a summer thermosatat in it this will leave it running cooler but it's nothing to worry about.
