The dealership did not attach a hose properly and the engine seized up. The offer is to replace the motor with a motor that was in another vehicle that was in an accident. What issues can arise from installing this motor in my vehicle? Can transmission or drive train issues arise because I have 90,000 miles on the car and the used engine has 44,000 miles? Is this a good deal or should I let them buy the vehicle from me?
Transmission and drive train should be fine, no issues there due to mileage difference. The lower miles is a plus on the used engine, however, the concern is: 1. how well was the used engine maintained? Did the owner change oil on a regular basis, or not often enough? 2. Where was the car hit? Depending on the point of impact of the crash, it may have 'tweaked' pulleys, or components, which may give you trouble later on. It probably isn't possible to get these answers, as the engine and car may have been separated a while ago, or the info just isn't available. I would say it depends on how much you like the car (and your desire to keep it), and whether or not the dealer will include some type of warranty, so you have some peace of mind if issues do arise down the road. If the buy back offered is good, all the more reason to get rid of the car. My opinion is, you shouldn't have to worry about these things in an '06 car. Good luck!
By changing motor is better for you the engine only has 44,000 miles those engines are good motors. you will not have problems just because the other engine has less miles. if anything thats better, only problems would be if you dont preform maintance to drive train,(trany) i would have it done, hope this helps.
