My Dad's 2002 Honda Accord (automatic transmission) suddenly started jumping forward, during acceleration. This only happens for the first 5 minutes or so of driving, after which it is fine.
A couple of days after this started, the "maintenance required" light also came on.
What could this be? Is it something easy, and cheap that we could take care of ourselves? If not, how much could it cost him.

- Took the car to a local, trusted mechanic. Said it may be problem with transmission, or engine mount. On examination, he found the transmission fluid really low, only 1 can left in engine and said the transmission seal needed to be redone. He redid the transmission seal and topped off the transmission fluid.
Because the car drives fine after about 5 minutes of regular driving, we didn't see any issues. But next morning, it did the same thing. It's okay in reverse, but in driving forward it doesn't do anything as I press on the accelerator, then suddenly catches and jumps forward. If I accelerate too fast, the engine just revs with no movement. If I accelerate slowly it speeds up properly, but slowly.
This only happens for the first several minutes of driving, then the car drives totally normally!
HELP, please!!!!
Thank you.
