Problem for Mitsubishi 1996 Eclipse
4th cylinder misfire in '96 eclipse rs(5 speed if it makes a dif)
4th cylinder misfire..put new plugs and wires but check engine light is still on.
i got it checked at autozone and the computer still said the same thing,misfire in 4th cylinder.

- no the engine is actually misfiring..you can feel it from time to time with a slight loss of power and a back fire shortly after.Best Solution

is it misfining ,or is the code just old and needs to clear?

- i have to agree there may be a problem with the coil pack causing the misfire and not burning the fuel fully in cyl #4 causing the backfire,,,,i would also check compression to eliminate a bad cylinder,,,you could also have a bad fuel injector,you could swap #4 injector with say #3 and see what happens , if the misfire goes to cyl #3 then its the injectorYes
