Remove door panel inside car and check motor with test light.
check window regulator/track window rides on, for proper operation, check cable is not broke.
replace motor if bad buy a new one, replace regulator from junk yard, new is pricey. 250.00 dealer cost.
350-400 for the whole job :(

My gas gage does not work. After I fill up with gas...withing 20-30 minutes it goes all the way down to empty. Should this be fixed or would it be too expensive to fix. The car is a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am...

Either your gauge is bad or the fuel level sender is. Most likely it's the sender in the gas tank. To replace it you would have to drain the fuel tank and pull the fuel pump/sender assembly and replace. You cannot just replace the fuel level sender with this car, the entire assembly must be changed out.

Power Windows only Work from Drivers Side

Maybe, but before you do, take a look in the loom (plastic coil with wires all inside it) that runs from area of hinges across from pillar to door. Open the loom up and take a close look at the wires in there for damage, cuts, corrosion etc, that may indicate a weak spot or break in wire(s) Not uncommon for that to happen as that door is always opening and closing, and causing that condition from bending all the time.

2001 grand am gt windows not working

pull the door panels off and remove the plastic sound deadenning liner from the door. find the window motor and unplug the wire harness. check the voltage by ressing down as to open the window(you can do up too, same thing), and see if you get 12volts when you press the button. if so your motors are burned. if not you have power issues and need to check your fuses. start off with the fuses first.

Power window won't work at all on driver side...Others work well.

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can test the switch at this point to see if they work. If not, you can then pull off the weather seal and access the regulator, motor inside the door that will be held in by several bolts

The switch will be about $10-20, the regulator and motor will each be $80 plus. Dealer will charge you around $200 just to fix, plus cost for part

Power windows won't go down

The Grand am has the slowest moving windows. I also have a 01 GT. My windows move very slowly, the back drivers side went out at 35,950 miles but luckily, the dealer fixed it. I was lucky the warranty had almost expired. It may need a motor and even when that is replaced it will still go up and down at a snail's pace. Good Luck! Is it any wonder they discontinued the Grand Am models and replaced them with the new G6. I will never buy another Pontiac. Wait until your security lights starts to pop on and eventually your car will not start, almost everyone I know with this car has had that problem at some point.
