Problem for BMW 1998 7 Series

1998 740i ignition switch / headlamp

I have a 1998 740i which just had the ignition switch replaced because rear shade and radio were not working. I picked up the car and the same day the front headlamp went out. Dealer says the replacement for the headlight is about $275 for labor and $300 for the light. Could the ignition switch have caused the light problem? Only asking because an article I read alluded to this.
