Start the car, let it run till it gets to operating temperature and turn the heater on in the vehicle. If it warms up, the water pump is working. Also when it gets warmed up, you can put gloves on and squeeze the top hose coming out of the radiator and you should feel coolant being forced through the hose.

- If your heater is not working, make sure the antifreeze level is up to the correct level and your thermostat is not stuck open before you plan on replacing the water pump though. More then likely if your question came about because your heating isn't working, it is either one of them two....unless the water pump is leaking.

I am trying to remove the heater assembly in a 2000 kia sportage 2wd 2dr, but I cannot find a chiltons book anywhere. My heater is leaking and it is freezing cold. Is there any information availble to assist me in this task.
