The ignition locks up & I can't get the key out. Battery light is on. If I move the key around, it will finally let me turn to last position, and will allow me to remove the key.
This is a problem with the 1999 GMC Jimmy. There is a cable that runs from the steering column to the shifter that is called Shift interlock cable and it gets dry and will not engage. Sometimes if you move the shifter from park to low a couple of times it will engage. If you spray WD 40 or something else on the cable it should work fine. The cable makes sure it is in park before you take out the key but it binds when it is dry. Hope this helps.
