Intermittant chugle(idle),poor throttle response

Problem is when in park or stopping and starting, fuel is good, new fuel filter, new plugs and wires, injectors cleaned and carbon build up cleaned up . It idles fine then acts like its gasping for air then chugs and shakes and runs ok, then starts all over, it does die at some point.Only code is 02 heater sensor

Your hetred o2 sensor is also what some manufacturers call a fuel/ air metering sensor, primarily because this is exactly what it does. with a faulty 02 sensor the computer doesn't know if the engine is running rich or lean, there for causing a rough idle, repair this as quickly as possible because damage can be done to the catalytic convertors. this can cost upwards of 1000 bucks to replace depending which engine. no matter which engine you have, replace both o2 sensors in the bank that is causing the problems, this is more important with the gm line than most but holds true to all vehicles

Hate to say it but I would look at the valves on those cylinders. I would venture they are not sealing properly.

Good luck.

98 golf 2.0 barely starts, then only idles really rough for a little bit then stalls.,if you give it throttle there is zero response, I replaced throttle body already and distributor ( hall sender) ?.?

You may need a factory scan tool to readapt the throttle. when ever the vehicle looses power or the throttle is diconnected adaptation may be necessary.

My 2002 4 cylinder highlander intermittent has starting problems. It will seem like it starts then will die.I have to hit the gas pedal couple times then it starts. Could it be time to change spark plugs?...

It could be all the above plus it could also be a bad fuel pump.My best suggestion would be have your plugs changed and take a look at them if there is a high carbon build up then check your air filter, ignition components and your engine control systems. If they have a gray or tan colored build up then there burning ok. I would try a tune up first to see what kind of response you get before going at the engine components. Also it wouldn't hurt to have the fuel pressure tested to make sure its at the proper pressure to eliminate the fuel pump.

Well, I guess I would find a way to get the fuel delivery right at the point of use diverted into a jar, so I could inspect for water or silt.

Fuel delivery bad enough to make the engine run wrong ought to be visible as a lean burn telltale on the spark plug insulators.

I would have a shop check to see what the coil(s) is/are capable of delivering, and what the engine requires for spark voltage while running. If the two are very close, you can easily run out of necessary voltage to fire the plugs.

The intermittancy though does seem to argue for something else...

How is your charging system? Sounds to me like it's not charging your battery, so it runs until the battery cannot support the ignition load.

Regardless of age, battery discharging first needs to be addressed and fixed - bad battery or something in car (like a light) may be staying on when car is shut off.
Fuel pressure is too low - should be around 50psi and may be caused by an intermittent fuel pump or regulator problem.
The cause of the other problems is usually with the IAC or MAF sensors or the EGR valve - fouling at the EGR, IAC and/or throttle body is to be expected for a car this old.
