Have you checked your oil level? Low oil level will cause this sound. If not, the valves may need to be adjusted. Honda valves should always be adjusted with the engine stone cold.

Tikking noise coming from engine

Yes, you're right, those could be the cause. Also, possible it's a collapsed hydraulic valve lifter, if your car has hydraulic operated (from engine oil) valve lifters. At any rate, it sounds like something loose in the valve train-valve lifter with push rod engines; or cam followers {rocker arms) with overhead cam engines that push on the top of valve stems .
Check a repair manual to see if your engine has valves that can be and need adjusting. Engines with valve lifters do not require periodic adjustment for proper valve clearance. Engines with rocker arms do require checking the valve clearance every couple of years or so.

Rattling sound in my engine

The "rattling sound" could be a number of things, but if the sound is coming from the upper part of your engine, it is most likey valve train noise. Removal of the valve cover for an inspection would be needed to determine. Make sure your oil level is full and you have the correct grade of oil in your engine. ...i hope this helps.

I am hearing a noise in the engine of my 1999 toyota vista ardeo, what could possibly be the cause? Does the d4 engines carries valve lifters?

Hi there, the noise you might be referring to which sounds similar to a typewriter may be the cam gear for the VVT found at the intake. If it is louder than when you got this it may need check up. Changes in the O rings or may need replacement if you also notice a decrease in power at certain revs. Not all sounds however may not be the case. High pitch sounds may be because of timing belts or metal to metal contact which may need lubrication. As for valve lifters, the one that you have does not have any.

2002 Buick Rondevoux 3.4 V6. Makes a noise from the engine like a buzzing sound. Sounds seems to come from power steering pump. I had it changed twice and still have the sound. Car is quit for twenty...

The GM 3.4 v6 engine is known to have Intake manifold gasket failure problems. IMHO, I do not believe this is fuel pressure release valve problem, since you would have fuel leaking. If it is more of a whistle rather than buzzing, i would suspect manifold gasket.

Check the valve clearance and then replace the valve seal.
