No not the whole transmission. Could be a band or servo. It still has to come out and be tore down to fix.

I had that problem a few years ago, it was a faulty seal that leaked. Took it to the dealer since there is no way to add fluid in the engine compartment

Previous owner may have put the incorrect spark plugs in it. Other than that your fuel filter could be blocked up. Worse case your cam could have a wiped lobe.

I think im missing 1st and or 2nd gear but it started happening out of the blue. Transmission has been excellent until this happened.

Check the following first:

1) Spark plug condition
2) Spark plug lead condition (replace if around 4-5 years old)
3) Condition of coil(s)
4) Condition of air filter.
5) Condition of fuel filter.
6) Gearbox oil level and colour (anything brownish in colour should be replaced)

Slipping in and out of gears

The only thing you can check out on an auto gearbox is the liquid level. If the level is low then fill it up,also new gearbox oil can fix few things in performance.I am afraid this is everything you can do.

Two problems okay..

For the key issue, try shooting some wd-40 into the tumbler, and working the key a bit. If that doesn't correct the issue, eventually you will need to replace the tumbler.

The hard shift is most likely not related to the clutch. As long as the vehicle has good acceleration, and you don't feel slipping, the clutch is fine. The issue may be related to a damaged cable, or to the linkage at the transmission itself.
