Question about Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

I've been told by me local dealer that I need a ecu for my 2005, 2.4L, MT sonata. The part number is 39115-38000. The car is too old to justify putting in a new one, therefore I'm looking for a used/rebuilt one, but finding it also very hard with this part number. So can someone tell me if a 2004 2.4L MT, sonata ecu will work sufficiently? Will ecu part number 39122-38720 work in place of a 39115-38000 ecu?

So from your view point there is no equivalent ecu's that can work in place of 39115-38000, not even 39115-38010?

I've already tried those folks day's ago. They don't have what they advertise. Who within florida (or perhaps elsewhere) do you recommend to rebuild/refurbish this item?

No, these are different part numbers, and the EEPROM is not the same program.
Your car may run - but will constantly throw out error codes, and run bad.
Try Junkyards - they normally pull them and keep them inside.
eBay is also a good alternative spot.

No, each vehicle has different on-board code (programs) that require specific voltages and inputs to work in conjunction with one another... and more than likely the pin configuration for the wiring harness is not the same.

Here is a new one for $78

They are out there - you just have to look. :)

2005 hyundai elantra gt 2.0l ECU replacement

I don't know for sure but I think the ECU will need programming with the vin-sensitive security code(s) and possibly other information that is exclusive to your car.

The so-called flashing is used to instal software patches and fixes in service when problems are encountered. Unless you are unlucky a new or official replacement ECU should already be loaded with the latest software version, but again the dealer should be your first port of call to ask such questions and then maybe compare notes and prices with a few local specialists..

I suggest you check with the dealer and ask if the part number has been superceded, or if the unit has been modified in the last ten years.
If there are no changes to the spec, the replacement ECU should have exactly the same part number as the original.

Took my car an 08 Hyundai Sonata for an oil change to the dealer and they told us there was sludge in the engine we have been keeping up with oil changes ,is there a defect with the sonata's engin

There are two main causes for sludge, not changing the oil and filter at regular times, and not running the engine long enough to get it hot.
You might want to get a second opinion from a shop other than the dealer. The dealer may have a sales promotion on engine flushes this month.

My car is having A similiar problem. If yours looses power like mine does, I've heard it's a defective stop lamp switch, which there is a recall on, and the dealer will fix for free. The recall ID# 09V122000 number to call listed with recall info #1-800-633-5151

the "emissions" refers to the entire system which reduces pollutants into the amptmoshere. you need to know the code and ill be able to tell you what needs to be done. you may not be experiencing any issues other than a check engine light. let me know what they put on the invoice from the shop.
