Question about 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight

1 Answer

I have a 1992 Oldsmobile Regency 98. It won't start; I have replaced the started and this didn't solve the problem. The engine will crank but not stay running if jumped at the solenoid. Was told it was the security relay. How do I bypass it?

Try taking out your control module and have it tested. Some auto parts stores can do this. I have had the same problem before in the same car. Also see if you have spark at the coils.

This happened to me. exactly the same problem and I was only able to solve it bypassing the entire security system. Here is a great write-up I used : http://newrockies.ca/vatsbypass

I have a 1996 98 regency oldsmobile and it cut off then it started right up what could it be

Possible faulty crank sensor or idle speed controller, fuel pump relay, or ignition module. Get a data scan and see what's sensor might out of range or defective. Check for clogged fuel filter also.

Need to replace the harmonic balancer on a 1992 odlsmobile 98 regency

A harmonic balancer puller-cheap and easy to use-available at any auto parts store. The hardest part is getting the crankshaft pulley bolt loose. An impact tool is best, but not absolutely necessary. Old school way: not recommended, but I've done it this way: put a socket and long stout breaker bar on the crank bolt. Let the breaker bar end rest on the ground. Now use the starter to just bump the engine over one quick time-just one little bump is all it takes to loosen the crank bolt- if you positioned the breaker bar right. Good luck, Joe.

My 1994 oldsmobile 98 regency won't start

Check fuel pressure, spark. If no spark possible crank sensor or ignition module. If no fuel pressure tap the bottom of the fuel tank with a mallet while someone is cranking the vehicle if it starts then you will need a fuel pump. Also if you have spark and fuel but the engine feels like it bucking while turning over, take a hair dryer and heat the coils up.you may have a bad coil pack. After they get warmed it night then start as the coil resistance changes.

Where is the fuel pump fuse located on a 1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency? The Olds runs fine except after it's on the road for approx 2 hrs it starts to lose power even if you put the gas pedal to the floor....

hi,
It is under the dash on the passenger side. There are a few fuses and 8 or 9 relays
You have to remove the underside cover to gain access to the electrical panel.

good luck!!!!!

My 1992 Ninety Eight Regency Oldsmobile was running fine. I parked the car and when I came back to start it 30 minutes later, it wouldn't start. I had to have the car towed. It is in the second garage now...

It is possible the timing chain could have jumped or stripped a gear.Have them to check compression.Could also have them check the cam and crank sensors.Let me know what they find.Good luck.
