By no crank are you saying that the engine does not turn over or it turns over but does not start? And yes the pump is in the tank.

Bravada starts fine but for short trips will not restart after turning engine off. Just cranks but wont turn over. Takes 3 or 4 tries then starts. Any answers?

I would suspect the problem is the fuel pump. It is located inside the fuel tank. Next time this happens have a spray can of starting fluid with you, spray it into the air intake of the engine and see if it starts right up, if it does you likely need to replace the fuel pump.

My 1992 buick roadmaster cut out on me while going to lunch.it cranks but wont turn over. im not sure what it could be.any suggestions will be helpful.

Could be your fuel pump has gone bad. You need to check your fuel pressure if it is below 5-10 lbs
you will have to replace the fuel pump..first check and make sure your fuse to the pump is good before you do anything..The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and the only way to fix it is to drain your tank and drop it it get to the pump that is located on the top side of it, the cost of the pump should be about $30-50..shop around before you buy one...takes about 2-3 hours to do this..

Still no turnover on buick roadmaster, could it be fuelpump relay?? I had same problem last week & replaced fuel filter & it started & ran great, this morning, same problem turns over & no...

more likely fuel pump itsself. More likely the fuel pump is getting weak, getting stuck, or plugged. Fuel injected systems need a lot of pressure, so if you're not getting a lot of fuel out of the rail, then the pressure's not adequate.

Last week, had same problem 1994 buick roadmaster car cranks, (turns over)& no start changed the fuel filter, car turned over & ran fine for 1 week, now same problem?? can someone help me??

Hi,
I might suggest pouring a fuel additive in your tank. Possibly you have some condensation/bad gas. Pour it in and let it sit overnight. See if it helps... it won't hurt.
Good luck!

Replaced fuel pump, pump wiring harness, fuel

Fuel Pump RELAY & FUSE CHECKED & DO you Have POWER "TO" Fuel Pump ? ALSO OIL Sending Unit Supplys the GROUND To Fuel Pump , This is A Saftey FEATURE that Shuts Down Fuel If ENGINE Looses OIL PRESSURE . And If This OIL Sending Unit or also Called (OIL PRESSURE SENSOR) << If It FAILS it WILL Cause What Seems Like A Fue Pump Problem But Is Rally Just The Sensor that is BAD. HOPE this Sheds Light on Your Problem !

Buick Regal dying

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

More than likely (and we will hope) it is the oil sending unit. In comparison it is a very cheap and quick fix to replacing the oil pump. Auto Zone has a pretty good componet location section that has tips for replacement if you cant find the sending unit or the oil pump. Try that first it may save you a lot of work.

Are there any signs that tell you if your fuel pump is going out?

this sounds like a fuel filter issue rather then a fuel pump issue or perhaps dirty injectors. To test the fuel pump hook up a fuel pressure tester and test it.

I changed the relay for the fuel pump. But it is not getting any current back to the fuel

TERRI
THERE IS NO FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR ON THAT CAR. DO YOU HEAR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY CLICK WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY ON AND AGAIN AFTER 3-5 SECONDS? IF NOT CHECK THE FUSE BOX LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ATTATCHED TO THE METAL STRUT. CHECK ALL THE FUSE AND RELAY CONNECTIONS AS THEY TEND TO CORRODE AND LOOSE THEIR CONNECTION ALOT. IS THE CK ENG. LIGHT ON WITH THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION? IF YOU HAVE A 3.1 CHEVY ENGINE THE OIL PRESS. SWITCH IS ABOVE THE OIL FILTER. IF YOU HAVE A 3.8 BUICK ENGINE, THEN THE OIL PRESS. SWITCH IS ON THE PASS SIDE IN THE WHEEL WELL ALMOST BUT AGAIN RIGHT ABOVE THE OIL FILTER. WRITE ME BACK AFTER YOU CHECK THESE OUT

I JUST SPENT A WEEKEND SOLVING THE ISSUES THAT SEEM TO BE THE SAME AS YOURS. FIRST THE PROCESS OF THIS MODEL IS THAT WHEN THE KEY IS PUT IN THE RUN POSITION, THE FUEL PUMPS ACTIVATE AND ONLY FILL UP THEMSELVES. WHEN THE TRUCK ENGINE IS CRANKED, THE OIL PRESSURE ACTIVATES THE SENDING UNIT AND IT ACTUALLY TELLS THE FUEL PUMPS TO KEEP PUMPING WHILE THE ENGINE KEEPS TURNING OR RUNNING. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS IN A WRECK, THE ENGINE DIES, AND THEREFORE THE FUEL TO THE ENGINE IS STOPPED, AS A FIX, TRY PRIMING THE CARB, AND SEE IF IT RUNS BRIEFLY. YOU WILL ELIMINATE ALOT OF EXTERRANEOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES IF IT RUNS. NEXT, CHECK CONTINUITY AT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. IT IS LOCATED UNDER A PLASTIC COVER ON THE FIREWALL TO THE RIGHT OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP. MINE HAS 5 WIRES GOING TO IT. I HAD TO UNSCREW THE COVER TO ACCESS THE HIDDEN SNAP THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE. HAVE SOMEONE CRANK THE ENGINE AND FEEL IF THE RELAY ENERGIZES. IF IT DOESN'T, AND THIS IS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MINE, YOU WILL NEED TO FIND AND REPLACE THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT WITH 2 WIRES. THERE ARE 2 WIRES THAT WILL LEAD YOU TO THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT FROM THE RELAY. THERE ARE 2 SENDING UNITS AND THEY ARE LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, BEHIND THE CARB. THERE IS A BIG ONE, WITH ONE WIRE, WHICH IS THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT FOR THE GUAGES, BUT BELOW THAT IS ANOTHER SMALLER SENDING UNIT THAT HAS 2 WIRES GOING TO IT. IT CLOSES WHEN THE ENGINE TURNS OVER AND ACTUALLY TELLS THE FUEL PUMPS TO KEEP PUMPING GAS. SEE IF THIS WORKS. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS 15 DOLLARS AND THE OIL SENDING UNIT WAS 16. SPENDING ALL WEEKEND WITH THE WIRING SCHEMATICS AND TRACING ALL OF THAT STUFF-----------PRICELESS.
