I would have the coil pack checked first, then the crank sensor.

Get someone to give you a jump start and drive the car for about 15 min. This should charge the battery. If the battery loses charge , the problem might be the battery itself, with a bad cell. this means replace the battery . Sometimes new batteries are defective (bad cell) and will not hold a charge. Or, the battery might be old and not work correctly. Another thing you can do is check the battery connections at the battery terminals. These have to be tight, clean and snug. The battery has to have at least 550 cold cranking amps or more if you have a six cylinder engine. The next thing to do is check the charging system , and if there is a problem replace the alternator.

We swapped engines between two 97 Subaru Legacies and now the engine won't start. It is getting spark but no fuel. Fuel pressure is good but it doesn't even fire.


Try resetting the computer, disconnect the battery, Check the fuel rail and any wiring harness connectors, sometimes they do not connect all the way and need a good push.

Sounds like the coil is going. The crank sensor will fire the ignitor and fires 2 plugs at once. Have the coil checked first. Good luck.

Firing order for 97 chevy blazer


Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2. Distributor cap should be numbered. Number one cylinder is front on driver's side (3 and 5 follow on same side). Number 2 is front on passenger's side (followed by 4 and 6).

make sure your not getting oil down into the holes where plugs go this can mess with the wires.Is it actually skipping?

1997 subaru outback legacy overheating


I've had the same problem all year. I've had four different mechanics look at this car - 97 legacy with 2.5. I've had the coolant seals replaced, the radiator cap, the thermostat, the water pump - all to no avail. I've realized now that it only overheats shortly after running sustained high rpm's. Recently the last mechanic mentioned the bleeder valve (I didn't know it had one and think maybe he didn't know either - not a subaru mechanic). Recently it overheated again (again sustained high rpm's - apparently more prone to produce air in the system), I sat the vehicle on an incline (raising the bleeder valve to be the highest point) and let the car warm up and run for half an hour. Now 300 miles and no overheat. I went through alot with this car to get to this point. Unbelievable.
