Question about 2002 Honda Accord

Cant find radio fuse

The radio in my 2002 Honda accord 4cyl ex is dead. it started when my battery completely died and I replaced it with the exact same model battery. everything in the car except the radio and the cigarette lighter works. I looked both in the main fuse box and in the one by the steering wheel and neither seemed to have a fuse for the radio and/or the cigarette lighter. any suggestions?

I'm sorry if this sounds a little too vague, but when the exact same thing happened to our Accord, my husband handled it and I wasn't really involved. Someplace you should have a card (It's either in with your papers if you bought the car new or if you bought it used, hopefully the last owners left in the glovebox or ? .) that has a 'security code' on it for 'resetting' the radio, etc. (There's some sort of an auto-shut-off in case someone is trying to steal your radio, etc..). When you follow the directions on the card and punch-in the numbers, it automatically resets and the radio and lighter* come back on (*BTW, I'm not sure if our lighter ever went out...??). If you can't find the card, then you'll have to go into a Honda dealership (They will NOT give out the # over the phone!) and by using your VIN they can look-up your #, although I don't know if they charge for this service or not. Hope this is of some help to you! BEST OF LUCK!

Battery died in a 1997 Honda Accord 4cyl. When I connected the cables on the new battery, it started all by itself. The switch was definately NOT on. That's the first thing I checked, plus, I had

If the engine started without the key in the ignition then the most likely cause would be a faulty ignition switch. Your Haynes or Chiltons manual for the car should include instructions for testing the switch. This would also explain why the battery went dead. It kept everything turned on when you pulled the key out.

My radio is dead after a battery change, could it be the fuse and i cant tell the smbol on the fuse card if it is

I have exactly the same problem. Just changed battery today on 2002 VW Golf TDI, and the radio is completely dead. Checked the fuse - looks fine. (Fuse 42 incidentally. Fuses are on the side of the driver's dash facing the door ie. only accessible once the door is open). Anyone know why the radio has completely died?

The exact problem happened to me...

Opposed to a blown fuse, most likely the drained/dead battery caused the radio to "reset" itself. You should have a 5 digit (or 4) code that was provided by the dealer or owner. Most owners write it down somewhere on their owners manual. If not, the dealer can give you the code. Once the code is entered, you back in business!

Pull your radio out and look on the back for your radio serial number and then call Honda with that code and they will give it to you.
