Question about 1986 Mercury Cougar
A fuse panel is used to house the numerous fuses protecting the various branches of the electrical system and is normally the most accessible. The mounting of the fuse panel is either on the left side of the passenger compartment, under the dash, on the side kick panel or on the firewall to the left of the steering column. Certain models will have the fuse panel exposed while other models will have it covered with a removable trim cover.
Fuses are simply snapped in and out for replacement. Always replace a fuse with one of the same amp rating. On plug type fuses, the color will also be the same.
Replace the cluster fuse.
