My headlights don't work on my 98 mustang but my brights kind of work. why is that? i can flash my brights but when i try to keep them on it doesnt work. if i hold down the flash button they stay on but in order for me to drive at night my left hand has to stay on the flash button. so i only have one hand while driving.

Means the low beam on your bulbs are either bad or the circuit is bad itself for the dim/low-beam.

First, check the fuse if it has a separate line or remove the bulb for inspection and replacement.

Hope this helps and give you an idea somewhere.

Regards.

Try swapping Relays #45 & #46 in the underhood fuse box. #46 is for the low beams.

Headlights went out on a 98 ford escort while driving

if both headlights went out at the same time, check your fuses. because high beams use more power than headlights, they are often on a separate fuse. if fuses are fine, replace the headlights.

the gear that drives those two is known to just be made out of a weak material that doesn't last. super common, cheap and easy to replace.

My dash lights quit working on my 98 Ford Mustang GT. I checked the fuse and my tail lights and brake lights work. everything else works. What else could it be.

the headlight knob is also a dimmer for the lights on the dash. try turning it all the way one side, then check fuse if still not working.

Sounds like your switch is bad (i.e. turn signal / healight dimmer / winshield lever switch) inside the steering column. Replace as necessary.

95 mustang gt headlight problem

Its your headlight switch... I have the same problem with my mustang.... After time goes on it wears on the copper connectors on the headlight switch and they will either get loose or they will bend and at times losing connections... I picked up the headlight switch from Auto Zone for $16.99... AND I believe that the sound you're hearing isn't coming form your engine but its coming from the headlight switch... Dont quote me on it but I am sure thats where its coming from... Due losing and gaining connection...
