Running it that low may have pluged up the fuel filter from the sedament from the bottom of the tank. Try a new fuel filter.

Start problem after filling gas tank

Interesting,
is the check engine light on, and have you checked the computer for trouble codes ?
Sounds like the idle air control valve is sticking but that would not have any effect with the gas tank.

My 88 jeep wrangler spitts and sputters when you give it gas how could i make it run normal

YOU COULD HAVE DIRTY CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS.OR WEAK COIL.LOW COMPRESSION CYLINDERS.TRY CLEANING FUEL INJECTORS.BY FILLING GAS TANK UP.THEN PUT A BOTTLE OF FUEL INJECTION CLEANER IN GAS TANK DRIVE CAR AROUND SO CLEANER CAN CLEAN OUT INJECTORS.CHANGE FUEL FILTER.CHECK ALL VACUUM HOSES.ALSO HAVE IGNITION TIMING CHECKED.

In drive mostly and idle it sputters and as no power i have a new fuel filter not on yet but engine light finally came on after i got gas today was on emty

Check your engine oil and please put the new fuel filter on. Do not let your tank get empty if possible because you will get sediment from the bottom of your tank and clog up you fuel filter and cause the car to sputter or cut off. Make sure your gas cap is on tight after putting gas in you car. The leading cause of the check engine light is a loose gas cap according to car shops. Good Luck

Car will no longer start!

Well, does this happen often, the engine failure? I'm not there in person, but I can lead you to an article that addresses what seems to be the cause of your car problem, and that is a malfunctioning connector between the electronic control unit and the distributor of the vehicle; here's the article link:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Engine_System_Engine_Abruptly_Quits_Periodically_While_Driving.htm

If, on the other hand--since putting gas into the gas tank was the last thing you did before you had a problem--consider the possibility you mistakenly read your gas tank gauge and unknowingly over-filled your gas tank, causing the problem you have been suffering right afterwards, as noted in this second diagnostic article: http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Engine_System_Engine_With_Carburetor_Hard_To_Start_After_Filling_Up_Gas_Tank.htm Good luck!
