Question about 1995 Ford Contour
Have you replaced the fuel pump on this car?
If so, was it a ford/motorcraft fuel pump or an aftermarket one?
Ford had issues with their fuel pumps in that they had to use double seals in them. Cheaper aftermarket pumps don't always do this. So they go into vapor lock, basically they lose their prime.
It usually happens on warmer days, but not always when the pump heats up.
So when this happens again, check for fuel pump operation. Turn the key and listen for the pump to turn on and pressure up. If no noise, you have a faulty pump. If it does, the pressure may be too low for the injectors to pass fuel to the cylinders...
I had this problem on my 88 taurus wagon when stationed in England. Once I replaced the pump with a ford/motorcraft one the problem never recurred.
