The low coolant indicator remains lit after topping off coolant. I suspect the sensor needs replacing or cleaning. Where is it located and can I do this easily by myself?

The sensor is probably located in the coolant resivor,,,in the bottom, but you usually cant take them out,and cleaning it will not fix it,,you most likely need a new coolant resivor as that is the only way you can get the sensor as part of the resivor
good luck ,i hope this helps

Many times vehicles have a coolant sensor mounted on the radiator that goes bad allowing the low coolant light to stay lit changing this sensor usually takes care of the light also make sure the wires running to the sensor are not shorted or broke.

1994 bretta low coolant light came on but level is full what could be the problem?

Hello rickwyatt100: My name is Roger and I will help you. If you are sure the coolant system is full?Disconnect the low coolant sensor. Turn the ignition switch to the run position. Is the low coolant light lit? If No, Replace the low coolant sensor switch. If yes you need to check circuit 69 for a short to ground. If the circuit is ok replace instrument unit for repair or replacement. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

CHECK COOLANT OVER FLOW RESERVOIR MAKE SURE IT HAS COOLANT IF YES.YOU COULD HAVE A FAULTY COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR IN THE COOLANT OVERFLOW RESERVOIR. CHECK TO MAKE SURE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR STILL INTACT.LIGHTLY TAP WITH THE HEAD OF A SCREW DRIVER BELOW COOLANT LOW LEVEL SENSOR BOTTOM OF COOLANT RESERVOIR.IF LOW COOLANT LIGHT GOES OUT COOLANT SENSOR PROBABLY STUCK IF LIGHT STAYS ON COOLANT LOW LEVEL SENSOR BAD.

On a 2002 Buick Century with 3.1 liter motor. "service engine soon" light remains lit. Last week it was the "low coolant" Light that stayed lit. Had a new coolant sensor installed and problem still...

No you need to have the vehicle scanned for the check engine light to see what the code is that has it on. Autozone will do this for free.

Replaced water pump, alternator, radiator, crank sensor and no coolant leaks and car has antifreeze, but why is low coolant dashboard indicator light keep flashing on 97 saturn sl2

Inside the coolant reserve tank there is a sensor for coolant level.

Over time, this sensor can get stick.

Inspect the coolant reserve tank for crack or leak.

Locate the coolant level switch/sensor and soak it in clean warm water.

Make sure it's free to move up and down the float path.

Top off the coolant tank with coolant only.

Low collant light is on and has no leak and is full

This problem is common, if the coolant level is OK, check the "coolant sensor" and clean the plug.

1990 Regal Coupe 3.1 engine. Low Coolant Light Stays Lit

This is a COMMON Problem that GM had with the Level Sensor Curciut, And they Never Correctly Addressed it. I Have on ocations Replaced the Sensor and that Corrected the Problem, BUT Other times the Light STAYS ON No matter What, I have tracked the Wires and all I Have Ever Found was the Plug Being FAULTY. So if A NEW Coolant LEVEL SENSOR Does NOT Turn off the Light, try Replacing the PLUG Itself.

Low coolant light is on with full radiator

Check the coolant top up reservoir. Low coolant sensor is usually in the overflow/reserve container.
Wash out and clean any dirt or corrosion from the sensor prong.
Refill to correct level with fresh coolant, then recheck alarm operation.
