Question about 1992 Cadillac DeVille

1992 Cadillac Fleetwood (FWD Deville) Sensor? Fuel pump?

1992 Cadillac Fleetwood (FWD Deville) starts for a few seconds and runs rough and then turns off. The car sputters and smokes a little. The car was inherited by me from my grandmother and has 54,000 well taken miles on it. Any help would be appreciated. When it starts it all gears of the transmission work but the car does not go very far and is sparatic in idle and acceleration. I could not get it up my street (one block).

My 1996 Cadillac Deville takes too long to start if it hasn't ran for a while, and when it does start, it runs rough for at least 15 seconds.

Check fuel pump & pressure, may be failing

Have you worked on the car at all, in the last couple
years, or just driven it,that could be a factor also

Car only start with cold engine

This can actually be several things but most common is the coolant temp sensor, it tells the computer how much fuel to give the engine depending on temp, if the sensor goes bad then it may be giving engine too much fuel when it's warm, which may be why it starts fine cold cause it needs more fuel to start cold, try holding the gas pedal to the floor when u start it warm, if it does start and run rough for a few seconds it's cause it was flooded due to excessive fuel.. Get scanned for any trouble codes..

does it have three second fuel pump run when you turn key to run position/ in between you should let i rest 5 or so seconds then try it again also some of these cadilacs have oil pressure sending unit wich takes the duty of keeping fuel pressure up is fuel pressure lowering as engine quits eg. rev up some in your few seconds of running while the engine is quit momentum keeps it turning for a short time see if you r pressure maintain thru the wind down

My 1998 cadillac deville rear shocks are low my pump comes on for split second and goes off

Normal operation is for the pump to run for a few seconds every time the vehicle is started. After this, the level sensor will determine whether or not the pump should run. Sounds like the sensor is not activating the pump.
