Question about 2000 Ford Taurus
2000 Taurus with issues starting, Problem started a few weeks ago, engine will turn over but won't fire. Replaced IAC, vacuum lines and valve, have had 3 mechanics look and no one found anything. Problem was intermittent and is now constant. Of note are a few items, when it's in the "mode" of not starting: without key in the ignition with the driver door open if you press the brake pedal the door chime activates, if you use either the key fob or dash button for the trunk release the door chime dings twice. The trunk won't release electrically but door locks, panic alarm, starter ect all work fine. Also when it's in this "mode" and you use either trunk button the front marker lights flash as well as the high stop lamp. With the key in the on position the brake lights or rear turn signals don't work.
When it decides it want's to start I know because the rear lights will function properly and the trunk will open electrically. After it starts it will run very rough, missing / stutter.
Sometimes it will run ok but had issues with idle. Please help, will certainly make it worth your time!

You should have a switch under the dash and then just turn it to the off position. If you don't or it doesn't work (like mine) then, there is 2 fuses under the dash, put the key in the ignition and turn it forward, pull one of the fuses out and then start the car that should reset it. Then you should be able to put the fuse back. Sometimes if you put the fuse back before starting it the alarm will just continue to try and reset itself, but not start the car. If that doesn't work I have a mechanic who can pull the whole alarm out and when hes done it would look like nothing has ever been installed. Hes very good. I ended having him take my alarm out when I had the same incident happen after the 2nd time.

Had a similar problem with my Saturn. Door chime going all the time, the seat belts going up - down - up for no apparent reason.
Turned out to be the switch in the door jamb had become unseated. As it randomly made and broke contact, the cars computer thought the doors were opening and closing, then acted accordingly.
I remounted it with the help of a hot glue gun (plastic mount).
Hope this info helps with your problem.
