Car wont move

when car is not started brake is not operative cause needs boosters help and the booster operates with vacuum, produces by the engine. first you need to know what tire(s) are locking, if rear tires are drum type, check if springs are in possition, did you bleed or replace brakes lately? also front brakes, from master cylinder to certaine point is pipe and from there to the caliper is rubber hose, and due to time and use, this hose gets damage inside, and wont let the brake fluid release its pressure after been aplied to stop the car, and front brakes will be applied due to this phenomenon

It really sound like you are going to need a new clutch. If the slave or master cylinders were bad they would feel loose, a stiff pedal usually means something came apart in the pressure plate.

1999 pontiac grand prix car started couldnt get out of park-car died now wont start and cannot get out of park even depressing brake pedal-HELP

You have a problem. If your car wont shift out of park, something is wrong. Your crossover cable may be out of allignment. The shifter may be loose also. These can be kind of hard to work with. Sometimes not. As far as it not starting, check the battery and fuses. Make sure your fuel pump is kicking on as well. It might have something to do with the transmission, considering it was stuck in park and then died. The best way to tell is by testing your car for codes. If your check engine light is on, you can test for problems. Most auto part stores carry these for $50 or less, for a cheap one. It could be a problem with the ignition system. As far as the shifter, I don't know to much about them, just engines. Sorry. I hope this helped a little. I know how it feels to be broke down. Best of luck. Google your car problems and you may find an answer.

When you start the car,the vacuum assist is what pulls on the brake pedal. It "may' be a brake booster problem.Without the car to look at its a hard thing to say.The small spring popping sound is strange..I think the brake booster is the starting problem.A leak?I hope this helps

Accelerator got stuck while passing a truck.

When you passed the truck... I guess you couldn't tell if the pedal was stuck since you were focused on braking.

When you brake, your brakes will overcome the acceleration of the car causing it to slow down, but like you describe, the second you let go of your brake, your car accelerates again.

It would sound like either the throttle pedal (gas pedal), the throttle line (connects pedal to throttle assembly) or your throttle assembly (on the engine) may be sticking....

ABS is designed to seance when the wheels stop rapidly and the car is still moving. if it has kicked in before the wheels lock then i would start at the sensors then if they check out i would check the ABS computer if equipped. If it doesn't have an ABS module then it will be controlled by the ECM " engine control module " Hope this helps. Good luck.

Wont shift out of park

Same thing happened to me. I had accidentally kicked something while streching out my right leg. It turns out there is an actual switch somewhere up above your feet directly above the brake pedal area that I had toggled when streching my leg!

Because I knew that it must have been that I kicked something, I was reaching under there, above near the brake pedal and eventually, miraculously found a little switch, which when toggled again, allowed me to get the car out of park and drive away.

I have yet to find any reference to this in the owners manual or online yet, but it's a fact.
I tried to find the switch again a moment ago, but could not - had to get back into work as I had been stranded on the road for the last half hour.

WEIRD!
